The Twelve Kingdoms - Youko
strange-and-amazing asked you:Youko Nakajima for the meme!
hogwarts house: I think I’m going to have to go with Gryffindor. Youko could also fit in Hufflepuff (she is loyal and hardworking, and she doesn’t feel the need for any glory - like a Hufflepuff), but I think her best moments are when she’s acting like a Gryffindor. Looking at The Twelve Kingdoms in Harry Potter terms, you could say that the story of her character development is Youko finding her ~true Gryffindor spirit.~ Like Neville.
classpect: NGL, I had to open the MSPA Wiki to decide on class and aspect because there are too damn many of them. I’m DEFINITELY thinking she would have an active class. At first I was thinking of maybe going with Heir just because Youko becomes royalty, but reading about the class on the wiki, it sounds like that class is best at using your powers to protect yourself. So I think Knight suits her better, which includes some implications of protecting the people around you, but it seems like Knights are generally more proactive than Heirs. I had a harder time settling on aspect, but if the MSPA wiki is right that Knights are basically “defined as ‘one who equips themselves with [aspect]’ or ‘one who improves themselves with [aspect]’,” then I think I’m going to have to go with Hope. The reason is this scene in The Twelve Kingdoms, which was first of all a huge turning point for Youko and second of all the scene where I realized I fucking loved her. And in Homestuck, Hope seems to be mostly about believing in yourself and in your friends, which is what made me think of that scene. Therefore: Knight of Hope
(Wow sorry I’m so Homestuck; I hope this doesn’t sound too nonsensical to you)
super high school level: Um….SHSL Queen? She’s definitely going to be a good one, judging by her first declaration.
bender element: I’m thinking water. Youko doesn’t really have the avoidant tendencies of air, or the stubbornness of earth, or the ferocity of fire except, in moderation. But she does have a tendency to go with the flow. At the beginning of The Twelve Kingdoms, that worked against her; she just went along with what other people wanted and expected of her. Gradually, though, she found her own direction and stuck with it. When she encounters a problem, she solves it like a waterbender would: by finding all of the possible paths and going through the best one.
magical kid wish: Hmm….That’s really tough, because it would be entirely different at different points of the story. Towards the beginning, she might wish for people to understand and accept her. Later on, she might wish for the wisdom and capability to rule her country. By the end of the show, I don’t think she’d wish for anything at all, because she’d be confident in her abilities to do what’s necessary.
lantern corps: I don’t know a damn thing about Green Lantern so I’m gonna have to skip this one
The Twelve Kingdoms again, if you haven’t read/watched this series then I strongly recommend that you do. The world building that goes on is amazing and shows the sheer amount of thought and attention that went into creating the books. Not only that but if you’re a fan of strong female characters then The Twelve Kingdoms is definitely for you, all of the people in it are flawed and beautiful because of it
I think that this fic in particular showcases the differences between our worlds and how the development of a relationship between Keiki and Youko would begin.

The king of En had told her that once. Even should a king’s ascension be bloodless as a gift from Heaven, to hold onto one’s throne invariably meant that blood must flow — as it had at the beginning, in the fight against the false king’s armies, and the quelling of civil war, and the execution of criminals.
Luckily, the fighting part was easy for Yoko. All she had to do was resist the temptation to run away."
